2008 In a nutshell...

I am not sorry to see this year over at all. As with any year there have been ups and downs, but this year they seemed magnified. To say the least 2008 was definitely eventful and will be the most memorable year of our lives.

2008 started out with a surprise New Years trip to KY. Nick had been working there since October and was coming to visit every few weeks. I wanted to surprise him on New Years Eve, so Danyell and I hopped in the truck and were on our way! We rang in the new year with all the family. There was a beautiful snowfall that week and we had a blast taking some pics!Nick,Dad, Ruthie, and I went to Chicago for the weekend to see Phantom of the Opera! It was such a blast and have some trips planned to go back in the next few months! Danyell and I flew to CA a few days later to celebrate our cousin Amanda's 16th birthday. We had a wonderful visit with everyone! Once we returned home I went on the hunt, and found a new job. I headed to VA to pack up some stuff, grab the dog, and headed back to KY. 2008 was looking pretty good; new job, new state, new side of family we were living near, and wedding planning. The first bump in the road was when I didn't pass my P&C exam, and had to go work for another agent. I know everything happens for a reason, but I am still not sure what that is :o( We moved all our furniture and rented out our house in May. We were so happy to be in our new place, that's not to say we weren't so thankful to Dad and Ruthie for everything!!! We got settled in pretty quickly. We had met a lot of great new friends and were thrilled to start having people over to our house!! We are so thankful to have met such wonderful friends here!! We had tons of family and friends come to visit from Roanoke! It was so great to have everyone come visit us and to show them around Louisville, of course everyone loves it!! One of my best friends from Roanoke Heather, loved Louisville enough to move up here with her boyfriend James...and we have a few more people dying to move here! My bridal shower and Nick's bachelor camping trip in Roanoke was here before we knew it in August. I am so grateful to Bobbie & Gayenelle for throwing such a wonderful shower!! My mom was able to fly out from CA, the shower would not have been the same without her there!! In September we had a crazy wind storm. We were out of power for almost a week! We also got a new pup, a Beagle named Colbie! She has been so much fun! The wedding weekend was here before we knew it!! We both had the best time at our bach parties, it was such a hoot to see our mother's dancing on the bar! :O) The wedding flew by so quickly...we both wish we could have slowed time down that day, but we wouldn't have changed a thing. We are so lucky to have so many people who love us who were able to celebrate our special day with us! we went on a road trip for our honeymoon!!! We headed north through Canada to Niagara Falls, then to NYC, Philadelphia, then stopped off in Lancaster Co and Hershey PA. It was such an unforgettable trip! We have a few more trips in the next few months planned that we are excited about! After the wedding I had some more doctor appointments because I had an ulcer that wouldn't go away on my tongue. On November 20th the dr. did a biopsy on it and on the 25th of November, I was diagnosed with tongue cancer! We were all in total shock, including the doctors! I was scheduled to do a much more invasive surgery in Cincinnati on 12.22, but we decided to get a second opinion and the doctors felt that the size and location of the tumor didn't warrant shat surgery. I prayed about it and God lead me to have the surgery here in Louisville with the less invasive surgery. I went into the hospital for my surgery on December 2oth and was doing great and was released on Christmas morning! What a great present!!! Recovery has been going well. I have a doctors appointment for Friday the 2nd to get the pathology report back on my lymph nodes. We are all praying that I am cancer free!!!

This year would not have been the same had we not had all the love and support from our families and friends! There were so many life changing things in 2008, both good and bad. Thankfully we both know in our hearts that God has a plan for us both, and everything happens for a reason. We are praying that God shows us those plans soon :O)

Here's to a great start in 2009!!!!
