Dear Days

Psalm 63 begins, “Oh God!” Not “Dear God.” I remember when I was young and I would pray, “Dear God” because a gut-blow from life had yet to send me reeling into the “Oh God!” cry. You know the “Oh God!” cry, don’t you? If you’ve been around the block enough you’ll agree that life is hard, we are dysfunctional, and we need a Savior. That harsh truth definitely deflates the “Dear God” kind of praying. I cry, “Oh God, You are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.”

Yup, so this pretty much hits the nail on the head..or however that saying goes.
